Lk 19:45-48 "...Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.” And every day he was teaching in the temple area."
Jesus did not strike out at any time during His life; not even during His Passion- suffering, torture and death. In fact, He continued to love and pray for those lying about Him and striking Him.
The only time we have seen anger is when witnessing desecration to His house. To a building, no. He says, "My house shall be a house of prayer" That is it!
Recently, I was schooled by a toddler. A young mom and her 3 small children sat in the front pew at mass. As they settled in, the youngest looked toward the tabernacle and shouted, "WOW!". His words challenged me. When I walk into church, do I think "WOW"?
I do now! Thanks to that little guy, I have "zeal for my Father's house."
