Acceptance or rejection of the Creed

Let us pray for an increase of Eucharistic Adoration.

Mk 7:1-13

"He responded, “Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written:

This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts."

Gn 1:20-2:4a

"God created man in His image; in the divine image He created him; male and female He created them."

To be Catholic is not just a group, or club which we belong. It is not a label. Being Catholic is an ongoing personal encounter with Christ and being a witness to His love. In short, we are called to full and active participation in the life of the Church, to live like Jesus and work for justice and peace in this world by living the 10 Commandments, the Beatitudes, the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

Let us meditate on a few key words in the Nicene Creed :

One – all united as the Body of Christ, given life by the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge one Lord, one faith, one Baptism.

Holy – the Church is centered on God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Christ, by His sacrifice, makes us/ the Church holy.

Catholic – universal. The Church is for all times and all people. The Church is “the fullness” of the means of salvation” (CCC 830)

Apostolic – the Church is built on the foundation of the Apostles, living the doctrine of Jesus as it has been handed down through the apostles and their successors, the pope and bishops.

"This people honors me with their lips."

Acceptance or rejection of the Creed serves to distinguish believers and deniers of Catholic doctrine.

"God created man in His image"

Let us truly BE Catholic.
