1 Jn 4:19-5:4
For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.
- For the love of God is this, that we keep His commandments.
His commandments. The world runs from this truth, yet any parent knows that to love your child, you protect them with guidelines and rules- a kind of commandments. Governments protect us with just laws- a kind of commandments.
- And his commandments are not burdensome
The world does not understand that true freedom comes from obeying God's commandments. No one loves us as God loves us, and His commandments are the way to freedom.
- whoever is begotten by God conquers the world
WOW, that's quite a promise
- And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.
Hebrews 11:1: "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen"
To conquer the world, we simply need faith.
Matt 17:20: "for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."
The theological virtue of Faith is a gift, a gift of God through grace.
Today, have faith that you can command a mountain to move, and you can conquer the world; simply follow God's commandments.
Have Faith.
