10th PROMISE OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS TO ST. MARGARET MARY: I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts
2 Cor 11:18, 21-30 Five times at the hands of the Jews I received forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I passed a night and a day on the deep; on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my own race, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many sleepless nights, through hunger and thirst, through frequent fastings, through cold and exposure.
DANGERS, DANGERS, DANGERS. St. Paul reminds us that following God, living faithfully and believing IS NOT EASY. To be His witness to the world may be DANGEROUS. So why do we go on, why do we strive to follow His path?
John 15:19 "If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you."
We are called/chosen Out of the World. Our desire is Heaven. Our only goal is to be with God, in Heaven, for eternity.
1John 2:17 "The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever."
ETERNITY WITH GOD, that is our goal, and that must be our only desire.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga, pray for us. “I am a crooked piece of iron, and am come into religion to be made straight by the hammer of mortification and penance.”
