Lk 17:1-10 "...When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'"
Pride can even creep into religious practices: devotions, daily mass, serving the poor. We must always be on guard. Nothing we do is deserving of praise. " we have done what we were obliged to do".
It should never be about us. It should only be about Him.
St. Paul reminds us in Phil 3:8 "More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ."
Nothing we do can compare to the gift of Christ - All we do can be for the love of Christ.
