FREEDOM

May we offer reparation for sins against the Most Holy Eucharist.

Ps 32:1-2, 5, 6, 7

"You are my shelter; from distress you will preserve me; with glad cries of freedom you will ring me round."

FREEDOM is one of the buzz words these days, yet the world does not understand freedom. Freedom does not come from doing whatever I please. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit, when they did whatever they pleased, they were no longer free.

TRUE FREEDOM comes from living in communion with God.

If we desire TRUE FREEDOM, we must embrace these earlier words in the psalm:

"Blessed is he whose fault is taken away, whose sin is covered. Blessed the man to whom the LORD imputes not guilt, in whose spirit there is no guile.

Blessed are those whose sins are forgiven.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you, my guilt I covered not. I said, “I confess my faults to the LORD,” and you took away the guilt of my sin.

Blessed are those whose sins are forgiven.

The Sacrament of Confession is one beautiful step toward FREEDOM. Hearing the priest say, " I absolve you of your sins, in the name of the Father and the Son and The Holy Spirit", is true FREEDOM- the forgiveness of God and the blessing of His grace.

As we meditate today, let us include an Examination of Conscience. In prayer, we can ask the Lord to help us to clearly see our sins, so we can confess them.

Then, if we visit Our Lord in the confessional, and receive His forgiveness from the slavery of sin- we will know FREEDOM

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
