Give Up

Let us pray for the conversion of the hearts of those who work in abortion mills.

Is 58:9b-14

If you hold back your foot on the sabbath from following your own pursuits on My holy day; If you call the sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable; If you honor it by not following your ways, seeking your own interests, or speaking with malice— Then you shall delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;

CCC THE THIRD COMMANDMENT Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work. The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.

Lent is an opportunity to change. Do we keep God's Day holy? Let us meditate, and ask the Lord to show us how we should live Sunday. As we strive to Give Up things for God, is there something on Sunday that we must Give Up? What is our attitude toward Sunday? Is Sunday truly the Lord's Day?

In this busy world: work, school, family..., it is easy to view the weekend as a time to Catch Up, but we must Give Up. If we trust the Lord and obey His Commandment to keep Sunday Holy, and to rest...then our week will proceed with peace, with joy, with HIM.

Give Up and "ride on the heights of the earth"

St. Frances of Rome, pray for us.
