Mt 19:23-30 Jesus said to His disciples: “Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of heaven. Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.”
How interesting! How often do we get this wrong! How often do people, God's children, long for wealth and not GOD. How many of us prefer our son is a CEO, rather than a PRIEST? How many of us prefer our daughters are wives and mothers, rather than a NUN?
Ultimately, the choice is GOD'S. HE has planned our vocation! We are not all called to be Priests and Nuns, but we ARE ALL called to be saints. But how often do we step in the way?
We respect the Saints, like St. Bernard, and revel in their choice to give up everything for GOD. At the same time we honor the wealthy - They, receive favored status, as if they, because of THE GIFT of their wealth, are special.
How interesting! How often do we get this wrong!
Today, let us ask GOD to help us to see ALL of HIS children as SPECIAL- to see as HE sees.
St. Bernard of Clairvaux, pray for us.
