Lk 6:27-38 Jesus said to His disciples: “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you... Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you,what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same... “Stop judging and YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED. Stop condemning and YOU WILL NOT BE CONDEMNED. Forgive and YOU WILL BE FORGIVEN. Give and GIFTS WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”
"For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” We pray, every day, in the Lord's Prayer, " forgive us our trespasses, AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against us. This is one of the earliest prayers we learned. Do we believe the words we say? Do we think about what we ask of the LORD every day?
We must not treat people the way they deserve...Praise GOD that HE does not treat us as WE DESERVE.
Instead, let us LEARN FROM GOD: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Start simple. Each time someone Does You Wrong, offer a simple prayer, " GOD bless you." Then, maybe one day, expand your prayer, " GOD, help me to see them as YOU see them."
Jesus promises that if we trust HIM, if we follow HIS example, if we LOVE, HE will return, not just a full cup, but a cup filled, packed down and overflowing. HE will return HIS ALL.
The choice is ours. Do we choose to Love as sinners love, or Do we Love as HE LOVES?
On this feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary, let us ask Our Sorrowful Mother to help us. Sorrowful Mother of Jesus, pray for us. Blessed Mother, intercede for us. Mother of GOD and Our Mother, lead us to your SON.
