Passiontide

Pray for all deceased priests.

Passiontide: Veiling religious images, in purple, as a way of focusing on the penitential aspect of the Lenten season. It reminds us in a visual way that our faith in all its glory is made possible only through the work of Christ in His suffering and death on the cross. When we cover or remove these holy and sacred images that we are so accustomed to, we are starkly confronted and reminded in a poignant way of all that Christ has won for us.

Jn 8:51-59 So they picked up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.

Jesus is walking the last steps of His earthly journey. There is a change in tone in the readings. Our eyes are fixed on the eternal Easter; but to get there, we must first walk the Passion. Jesus will enter into death, to destroy death. Those in the RCIA have or will participate in the Sacrament of Confession. May we too seek to purge our sins, so as to Live the eternal Easter.
