Mk 2:1-12
They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw THEIR faith, He said to HIM, “Child, your sins are forgiven.”
We do not have all of the details of this story. We do not know if the paralyzed man had begged his friends to bring him to Jesus. What we do know is that Jesus acknowledges THEIR faith.
God permits us to cooperate in His redemptive work; in His forgiveness. Our works, when we cooperate with God, can be the vehicle of His mercy.
Our works can be corporal (feed, clothe, shelter visit, bury) and/or spiritual (pray, forgive, admonish, counsel, instruct).
There is always SOMETHING we can do. We must just pick up our friend and do it!
Today, let us ask God how we can be a friend.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
