PRAY THEN OBEY

Luke 9:57-62 And to another He said, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, LET ME go FIRST and bury my father.” But He answered him, “Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and PROCLAIM THE KINGDOM OF GOD.” And another said, “I will follow you, Lord, BUT FIRST let me say farewell to my family at home.” Jesus answered him, “No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.”

"LET ME FIRST" "BUT FIRST" are these ever our responses to God? Many of our "LET ME FIRST" or "BUT FIRST" responses can seem reasonable. LET ME FIRST study, so I may be effective. BUT FIRST I will raise my family LET ME FIRST... BUT FIRST... can seem reasonable and prudent. The one thing these responses do not demonstrate is TRUST.

All we need to do, to PROCLAIM THE KINGDOM OF GOD, is to follow the example of Nehemiah. "I prayed to the God of heaven and then answered " Neh 2:1-8

When God asks, we PRAY THEN OBEY. HE will provide all we need.

Holy Guardian Angel, my friend and companion, my elder brother and teacher, keep my mind and heart always open to your words and guidance. You see better than I how much good there is to be done. Open my eyes to the needs of those around me. Open my ears to their unspoken prayers and soundless cries. Open my heart so that I may be brave and unashamed in loving my neighbor with the very love of Jesus. Do not let me hold back in doing even a little good for others. Like the widow in the Temple who gave all she possessed, though it was only a penny, inspire me to do even the very smallest things with great love, for anyone whom I can help. Amen.

Holy Guardian Angels, intercede for us. “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father” Mt 18:10
