Mt 1:1-17
Not much is known of St. Joseph. In today's Gospel, God has made it clear that St. Joseph was chosen, like Mary, before time began. This Gospel, which can seem uninspiring, shows us that God wants us to notice His handiwork, His plan, Our salvation history. Jesus was born to St. Joseph, to fulfill the promise, and to show us that God has carefully given us a thread to follow. To emphasize His divine plan, God demonstrates our history : "Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations; from David to the Babylonian exile, fourteen generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Christ, fourteen generations."
Like St. Joseph, we are each part of His plan, part of Salvation History. Let us ask God today, what He wants from/for us today? How are we to live His plan of Salvation?
