Mt 13:1-9 “A sower went out to sow. And as He sowed, SOME seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. SOME fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. SOME seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But SOME seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”
The ground: path, rocky ground, thorns, and rich soil. The SOWER sows, BUT we prepare the ground. Are we putting in the work? Do we even care? Do we understand that we must cooperate? God does not do all of the work. We have an active part to play -
Prayer, Adoration, Confession. Just as The LORD told Moses, in today's first reading (Ex 16:1-5, 9-15), "Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not." Do we follow HIS instructions? Do we seek our daily portion? Have we cultivated a relationship, so that we recognize HIS voice?
Prayer, Adoration, Confession
THE SOWER sows. The FRUIT is dependent on us. Today, let us plan to cultivate the soil - Prayer, Adoration, Confession - so that we may be the SOME who produce HIS fruit.
