THE KING

The Solemnity of Christ the King.

Today's readings can be intimidating:

Dn 7:13-14 "...Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, His kingship shall not be destroyed."

Ps 93 The Lord is king, He is robed in majesty. The LORD is king, in splendor robed; robed is the LORD and girt about with strength."

Rv 1:5-8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, " says the Lord God, "the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty."

Jn 18: 33-37 "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth."

He is THE King, and I am a lowly, pitiful sinner. I am not worthy.

This is true, I am not worthy, YET, the King of Kings chose to enter this world as a helpless baby. He chose to be a small child, schooled by Our Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, He chose to be the Lamb sacrificed for all. And, He chooses, to be a simple, vulnerable piece of bread, elevated by Father, offered at every mass.

He is not locked away in a huge castle, surrounded by guards, unapproachable.

His appearance is unassuming, small, fragile, very approachable. Waiting.... waiting for me to come forward and say, "Amen".

Jesus Christ, THE KING
