Let us pray for all in religious life; religious brothers and sisters, and seminarians.
"people immediately recognized Him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard He was... that they might touch only the tassel on His cloak; and as many as touched it were healed."
Picture this scene. Huge crowds of people touching, maybe grabbing Jesus. All wanting.
That is us too. We WANT, we NEED, but do we think about what Jesus might need.
Lk 8:46 "Jesus said, "Someone did touch Me, for I was AWARE that power had gone out of Me."
Again, and again, in scripture, we are told to bring our needs to God:
Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Heb 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Mark 11:24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you
Yes, we should and must offer prayers of petition and thanksgiving. Let us never lose sight of the reality that Jesus FEELS, and that, as God/Man, we can console His heart. We can give.
Today, let us pray for opportunities, little acts of kindness, to console Jesus - to give TO Jesus.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
