Mt 15:29-37
"...Great crowds came to him, having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute, and many others. They placed them at his feet, and he cured them. The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the deformed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind able to see,"
It seems like a contradiction: Great crowds came, seeking healing, and yet They were Amazed.
But we know that's true, don't we. People are drawn to the Lord, to the Catholic church, and they don't know why.
His words are truth, life, a lamp, sweeter than honey...
The Lord draws us to Himself in our brokenness, and He heals us.
Even after witnessing healing, after healing, the disciples still did not understand Jesus. They answered Him “Where could we ever get enough bread in this deserted place to satisfy such a crowd?”
Today's first reading gives us a look at the answer: Is 25:6-10. " He will destroy the veil that veils all peoples, The web that is woven over all nations"
We are veiled, clouded, covered in a web.
So when we fall (not if), we have only to follow the example of these early Christians, and bring our brokenness to Jesus and He will heal us.
Then let us respond as they did:
"they glorified the God of Israel."
